Homeless Network of Yakima County
Network Members on this committee
The Goal of the Advocacy Committee is to promote and support the development of creative, proven innovations to meet the basic needs of individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness. This will be accomplished by doing the following:
- Utilize a phased approach to implementation of projects, including pilots, to begin small incremental change
- Once a public hygiene facility has been implemented, or should an opportunity arise, address the need for public storage, dedicated RV/Vehicle parking, warming stations, and laundry facilities
- Ensure, through community outreach, that all impacted partners are a part of the conversation including small businesses, faith-based community, elected officials and more.
- Ensure longevity and long-term success of any projects by identifying ongoing sustainability prior to implementation
- Partner with the Public Awareness committee to provide individuals who are unsheltered a voice in the community conversation
The Committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 3pm. For more information, see our Events page.
