Description: Yakima Neighborhood Health Services will be hosting the 16th annual memorial service to remember our friends and neighbors who have experienced homelessness, and passed away in the last year. This event is provided in partnership with the Homeless Network of Yakima County. The Annual Memorial Service 2020 will be December 21 -- the Longest Night / Shortest Day of the Year. Each year across the country, Communities honor those who have died, typically at much earlier ages than other residents as a result of living harsh lives on the streets. The National Coalition for the Homeless, the National Consumer Advisory Board and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council encourage and share efforts for communities to engage in Homeless Persons Memorial Day.
We will gather VIRTUALLY THIS YEAR ON FACEBOOK LIVE , at 5pm Monday December 21 to honor our friends and neighbors. YNHS is collecting the names of the deceased, and verifying they are or have experienced homelessness, to honor them during the memorial service. If you know someone who has passed, please share the information, please contact Gloria.hancock@ynhs.org or leah.ward@ynhs.org or call us at 509-574-5556 (Gloria)
Please provide the following information so we can verify their homeless status. Their names will be printed on the memorial service program, and attendees will be invited to speak remembers if you/they wish:
