Community Engagement Committee

Committee Membership - 2019

The purpose of the Community Engagement Committee is to provide for strategic community interactions between the Homeless Network of Yakima County (Network) and the local and extended community through conversations that create information relative to the mission and vision of the Network. The outcomes of that engagement will be to forge lasting partnerships with the Network in addressing issues related to homelessness and housing.

We believe that conversations on community hopes and challenges will create the public knowledge that the Network needs to facilitate change in public education and root our decisions in what matters most to people.

  • Educate the General Membership, staff and key stakeholders on effective communication strategies
  • Identify key civic and corporate groups whom the Network should convene community conversations;
  • Provide recommendations for training facilitators, targeting groups, and disseminating public knowledge from these conversations;
  • Provide strategies to broaden the range of the Network’s partnerships and to deepen existing relationships;
  • Make recommendations to the Development Committee and the Executive Committee on how to maximize the engagement of key participants

Note - This committee is merging with the Affordable Housing Committee.  Please go here for more information.
