Purpose: The Conference on Ending Homelessness is an annual event that brings together hundreds of people from across our state and region who are working to end homelessness. Together, we learn from each other, exchange ideas and share advice, get inspired and re-energized, and organize to grow the movement to end homelessness in Washington and beyond. Registration is required.
Purpose: Equipping Yakima to be trauma informed! What you will learn: how trauma impacts the developing brain of children; how to more effectively respond to individuals with a history of trauma; how to make your home, workplace, church and our community a safe place for trauma victims to heal and overcome their past. Elizabeth Benefiel, Executive Director of Love, INC. of Yakima, is a certified CRI Trauma-Informed instructor with more than 30 years' experience. Pre-registration is required.
Purpose: Steve Mitchell, CEO of OIC Washington, speak about and lead a discussion on Structural Racism. Light snacks will be provided.

Purpose: The Homeless Network of Yakima County Youth Coalition is dedicated to preventing and ending youth homelessness in Yakima County by convening a grassroots community coalition, identifying the unmet needs of our community’s homeless youth and solving challenges collaboratively through action.
Topic: This meeting will highlight review the plan for the upcoming meets with legislative representatives and discuss ongoing strategies.

April 18, 2018 - Central Washington Conference for the Greater Good

April 18, 2018 - Affordable Housing Committee
Purpose: The Homeless Network of Yakima County Affordable Housing Committee is comprised of multiple service providers and members of the community who are associated with the development, management, and access to affordable housing in Yakima County.
Topic: This meeting will highlight a presentation by the City of Yakima about the Yakima Comprehensive Plan 2040. This Comprehensive Plan guides Yakima’s physical development over the 2017-2040 period. It describes community values, directs municipal activities and services, and provides a statement of policy about Yakima’s desire for growth and character.

Purpose: Come for breakfast, and learn about the "Bank On Yakima" project, how it can strengthen our community and improve the lives of the people we serve, by bringing affordable banking services and financial education to some of our most vulnerable residents. Learn how people with a bad financial history, bad credit, debt or ID issues can access low cost banking services and financial education, and keep more of their own money while they strengthen their family's financial future. Craig Nolte, Regional Director of the Federal Reserve Bank, San Francisco, is the keynote speaker.

Purpose: The Homeless Network of Yakima County is an association of community members, emergency housing providers, service providers, elected officials, and multiple other interested persons and entities who are concerned about addressing the needs of individuals and families at-risk or experiencing homelessness.
Topic: Review of current initiative and committee updates.
